Small Antique Wine Grape Press from France, Early 1900s

This charming, small antique French grape press dates to the early 1900’s.  It is made from cast iron, copper and wood, and it was used for testing small batches of grapes, more specifically, the readiness of the grape. The turning mechanism at the top operates the press inside the wooden cylinder. Copper bands and grommets hold the wooden pieces in place while the pressing is taking place.  The cast iron frame ends in four paw feet. As an accessory in any wine room or country kitchen, this antique French grape press will be a unique addition.

CONDITION: Very good. Collecting pan below wooden surround missing.
