Antique Silverleaf Louis Philippe Mirror, 19th Century

This versatile antique Louis Philippe silver leaf mirror can be used in almost any style of interior design due to its simplicity of lines and motif.   Louis Philippe’s reign was from 1830 to 1848, and the rounded forms and motifs were in abundance during his reign and several years afterward. Mirrors such as this would be found over fireplace mantels throughout the city of Paris in the mid to late 1800s.

This silverleaf Louis Philippe style mirror has the characteristic half round molding in the center of the surround with rounded corners at the top.  The innermost molding next to the mirror or glass is tiny, continuous beading. This elegant and versatile antique French Louis Philippe mirror can be used anywhere in the home.

CONDITION: Good. Minor chip to gesso lower right corner. There are age separations at right hand bottom corner. Very minor losses to silverleaf. Beading is silver paint.
