Antique Black Forest Firescreen from France, Circa 1900

From France, this unusual, three paneled, wooden firescreen has beautiful details of foliate and tree bark motifs, typical of the Black Forest style.  There are depictions of wooden branches and twigs in C-and S-Scroll, Fleur-de-Lis, and acanthus leaf shapes.  A motif of a stylized pineapple within a single leaf is at the top center of each panel.  The center panel has a metal screen surrounded by an arcade of twigs and the Fleur-de-Lis at either end. The adjacent panels are large, open-worked, facing volutes with a cross of leaves.  The three panels rest upon graceful, S-Scrolled branch feet.  This Black Forest firescreen from France will be the center of attention in front of any fireplace.

CONDITION: Good condition with minor previous repair, minor abrasions and wood separations. Traces of old woodworm. Metal screen replaced
