Large Antique French Enfilade in Stripped Walnut, Late 1800s

This beautiful Louis XV style, enfilade or buffet has four doors with a stepped out frontage. It was made "en massif" from French walnut and later stripped at some point in it's history. There are intricately carved floral and foliate motifs which were done by an artisan who was a master at his craft. Notice how the acanthus leaves have curls with multiple shapes and stems and the shells are defined with various lengths and depths of lines for the veins. There is a center panel on the stepped out portion which more than displays his artistry. All of the door fronts have been deeply carved and are asymmetrical in their motifs and moldings. Each has a raised shaped panel at the center. The sides have an arched center shape with raised panels beneath. The hinges are massive and extend the length of the doors. The apron has been deeply shaped to accommodate the motifs and is outlined with beautiful c- and s-scroll acanthus leaf motifs. The large front feet are turned with hooves and the back feet are shaped blocks. This meticulously carved and grand scale antique enfilade will be a focal point wherever it is placed. Found near Avignon, France.

CONDITION: Good condition. Minor losses to some motifs. Please see photos..
