Elegant Antique French Parquetry Buffet in the Renaissance Style, Late 1800s

This unusual French cabinet or buffet has been made with a mix of beautiful exotic woods and French walnut. Antique veneering was a true art form developed by ebenistes during the 18th Century, and veneered pieces added extreme value to the finest pieces of high end furniture. This piece has wonderful tiny parquetry insets along the front door, top drawer, and bottom drawer. There are also exquisitely hand carved walnut wood masks, caryatids, and a central winged cherub, all applied to the frontage as added ornamentation. On the sides of the buffet are interesting protruding moldings surrounding a stunning burled wood panel.

Two drawers are on the front, one under the top and the other above the base. The central door with arch form and winged cherub with drapery swags, opens by a key pull. Four finely incised circular feet uphold the entire piece. This incredible antique French parquetry buffet will be the focal point of any room.

CONDITION: Good antique condition with some scratches to the top, very minor losses to veneer on bottom corners. Restoration to hands on right hand demi-figure. Key pull is used to open/close door, but does not operate lock.
