Antique French Oak Black Forest Style Cabinet with Deer Trophy, Late 19th Century

This incredible hand carved Black Forest style hunting cabinet depicts carved animals throughout. The crown is a magnificent trophy of a deer head with scrolling acanthus leaves to either side.  Two griffons on either side face the deer, and on the frieze below, is a cartouche with scrolling rinceau to either side. Beneath are two glass enclosed cabinets flanked by barley twist columns.

There are two meticulously carved crouching lions which rest upon the lower buffet. They support the upper section. Two drawers with branches and leaves for handles are beneath this, and finally, below are the the highly detailed full field carvings on the fronts of each door. They depict hunting dogs in action, surrounded by oak leaves, foliage, and primitive wooden fences. The highly intricate carving is a joy to observe. These cabinets also have barley twist columns on either side, which are further stepped out from the center of the cabinets.  All this rests upon partial bun feet at the front and blocks at the back. The cabinet has it's original locks and keys.

Wonderful to study, this Black Forest style hunting cabinet will be the focal point of any area.
