19th Century Demi-Lune French Oak Hunt Buffet with Deep Relief Carvings

From France, this exceptional, hand carved hunt buffet with curved ends, depicts extraordinarily large versions of beautiful animals. They are featured on the two front cabinet doors. Both doors depict a fox or wolf in shrubbery seeking their prey; one is looking on the ground, and the other looking up into the trees. The cabinet doors on the curved ends depict items used in the hunt. On the left, are hunting hats, crops, collars, hunting horns, a bird and spears within a round framework of oak leaves and a cartouche at the top. On the right door is a rifle, a hunting satchel and a horn within a round framework of oak leaves and a cartouche at the top. The top of the buffet has linear acanthus leaf moldings around a paneled top.  There are four stepped out areas on the front accommodating margents of floral and foliate motifs.

This phenomenal hunt buffet from France will be the focal point of any area it is placed in.

CONDITION:  Good antique condition with minor losses to some motifs, old restorations and filled separation along top, age separations, minor wear commensurate with age and use.
