Antique Oak Enfilade from Lorraine France, 1700s

This antique French Enfilade has been constructed with European Oak during the 1700's. The piece is typical of 17th and 18th century furniture that was made in Lorraine. Along, the top, we see a groove toward the back of the piece. This was intended to hold and display plates either against the wall or an upper section, known as a vaisselier.  There are three drawers, each separated by an encircled four stemmed floret and an indented panel.  Its simple rectangular shape is offset by deeply carved, shaped moldings and raised panels on the three door fronts and a highly shaped apron. The sides have raised panels with ascending shaped aprons going to the back.  The small center medlalion along the apron, is a simple floret with leaves in a circle with c -scrolls flanking it on either side.  All this rests on shaped from feet and block back feet. This nicely worn French oak buffet exudes a warm patina, and will be a wonderful addition to any room.

CONDITION: Good antique condition. Age separations, minor losses, wear to feet, rubs, nicks. Old restorations to back feet. Interior re-lined.
