Antique French Confiturier in the Louis XIII Style, Circa 1900

Fruitwood, Circa 1900 with older elements

This antique French confiturier is made of fruitwood and dates to beginning of the 1900s. A Confiturier was a piece of French furniture used to hold canned jams, confit and other food items that did not need refrigeration. Today, they are perfect for any area needing a small cabinet. Made from fruitwood, this cabinet has a front panel on the door that is an older element. It has a stylized cartouche with scrolling acanthus leaves and flowers opening to clusters of berries. A key opens the door to one shelf inside. The sides have diamond point motifs and rest upon four bun feet. All of this is consistent with the Louis XIII style of regional cabinet makers in France. This confiturier could be appropriate in any room.

CONDITION: Good condition with age separations, minor nicks and losses of wood, old woodworm.
