Rare Pair of 19th Century Walnut Wood Bonnetieres from Provence France

These walnut wood bonnetieres came from Provence, France and date to the early 1800’s. The outside shapes are within an inch of each other in dimensions and some of the motifs are the same on each piece while others are different.  Spatially, however the motifs have the same proportions and  take up similar amounts of space. The sides are different to eachother, one having three panels, while the other has two panels. The carver of these bonnetieres was a master at his craft. Bonnetieres are essentially small armoires and they were named "bonnetieres" because they were originally used for bonnets and lace head wear for women.  They were first made in Normandy in the 1700s and slowly spread to other regions with models from Provence being more rare. Today, they are used as beautiful storage pieces in any room where space is limited as well as showcasing a beautiful piece of furniture. This beautiful pair of antique bonnetieres from Provence will be the focal point of any room.
