Circa 1860 Painted Cast Iron Balcony Railing from Montpellier, France

This is a stunning antique French balcony gate from the South of France. It was made in the mid to late 1800s, and its total length is over 11 feet! It would have been on a large and ornate building facade. The railing is made up of a series of decorative sections, including floral baskets and scrolling rinceau. There are also many C scrolls and lilly stems. The corner posts are richly decorated with ionic capitals, fluting, and there are even small rams heads flanking each side of the lower sections. On top of the corner posts are finials.

This gate can be a wonderful console with a stone or marble top, or once again, a balcony gate at the front of a home.

CONDITION:  Some welding and rusting to iron. Some missing motifs, includling a portion of the decorative section on the left side of the left post (see photos).
