Massive Circa 1700 Forged Iron Lantern Holder from a Castle in Wallonia Belgium

This stunning hand forged, painted iron lantern holder dates to around the early 18th century and was once mounted to a Castle in the Wallonia region of Belgium. The height is over 6.5 feet and, including bolts, it is roughly 90 inches long (7.5 feet)! The size of the iron bars and motifs are unusually large, yet the lines have a refined elegance with scrolling stems, leaves and graceful flowers. Beautiful C-and S-Scrolls are throughout the entire piece. The lantern hangs from one of these bending stems’ floral heads. Fabulous to view, and unlike anything we have seen, this massive iron lantern holder will be the focal point of any structure. In person, it is quite a sight to behold.

CONDITON: Good antique condition with some minor losses to motifs. Has been re-painted over the years to fight rust. Lantern may not be original to piece and has missing glass.

Max Height=78 1/2, Length (not including insertion bars) 62 inches, Bolts approx 27 1/2 inches long. Lantern=16 3/4 wide
