Arched Antique French Oak Entry Door with Frame, 19th Century

From France, this amazing arched entry door is made from stripped French oak. The door is still attached to its original arched surround, and the decoration consists of simple, triple raised panel moldings going down three quarters of the door. The lower portion is a large plain wooden board with thick nailheads.  The sides of the bottom panels are shaped, to add interest. A half round molding goes from the interior upper arch to the bottom third portion where it rests upon a square molding. At the center of the door is a decorative iron door handle against a small iron escutcheon.  There is a lock on the right center front of the door.

The back of the door has painted white planks with decorative iron door straps. The upper and lower straps are in the form of a Fleur De Lys, and areas of old blue paint can be seen on parts of the door. This fabulous French door and surround is very sturdy, and will once again make for a grand entry. Of course, it can also be used as an interior door, wine room door, etc.

CONDITION:  Good antique condition with minor losses of wood, round mark on back center of door. Roughness to wood on front from stripping.
