Rare 18th Century Painted Table Cabinet from Southern Germany

This rare and colorful pine wood table cabinet from Southern Germany dates to the 1700’s or quite possibly older. Pieces of this type that survive today can date back to the 14th century. This piece has a front opening door with three pilasters adorned with ionic female mask capitals. Each column has figural and foliate scenes, and between the columns, are two painted panels. On the sides of the cabinet, are very detailed figural scenes of different subject matters against a rich night blue sky. Each scene is varying and highly detailed. Much of the paint of the top board is faded, and the back board has been painted in a type of faux marble. This antique table cabinet is fascinating to inspect, with hundreds of individually hand painted details and scenes. This fabulous piece will be a colorful addition to any surface it is placed upon.

CONDITION:  Good antique condition with areas of missing paint, abrasions, age separations, minor losses as seen in photos.
