Pair of Small Glazed Terra Cotta Anduze Pots from France

Anduze, France has been known for its colorful, glazed handmade pots since the 16th century. They were used for planting everything from large fruit trees to herbs.  The original finishes were a flamed color in green, brown and yellows.  The Orangerie of Versailles had a beautiful collection of large anduze vases, giving them a royal and grand ambiance. The pair shown below is a recent production from the village of Anduze. They are a small, convenient size at only 12 inches high, and the coloration is a mix of grays and whites with the terra cotta color showing through on the swags and floral motifs. These wonderful pots from the Provence Region will be beautiful inside or out.
