Early 1900s French Faience Inkwell in the style of Emile Galle

This cobalt blue on white ground, French faience heraldic inkwell dates to the early 1900’s.  It is after Emile Galle and the designer, Gengoult Prouve who had designed similar candle holders and inkwells in France during the late 1800s.  The lion’s paws are protecting the coat of arms and the stylized castle (inkwell).  The inkwell has a lid (see one of the last photos) and the tray for the quill has floral and foliate motifs. Fabulous for any desk or table, this antique French heraldic inkwell will be the perfect focal point.

CONDITION: Very good condition with rub on left side and underneath. Inkwell lid not shown in most photos has a missing piece.
