Polished Aluminum Milk Container from Dijon, France, Circa 1920

Milk containers of this type were used by dairy farmers to transport milk from the farm to the customers. They were used in the 19th Century and finally discontinued in 1979.  This particular milk container is made of aluminum and is marked in different areas on the container, VDS and H Connet Dijon. They are more often seen in tin or copper, but bright aluminum is more rare. It would have taken hours of polishing to achieve this finish. Today, a decorative container like this can be used as an umbrella holder, or you can use it in the kitchen with dried flowers! It comes with its original top.

CONDITION:  Good antique condition with scratches and wear as seen in photos.
